Two coworkers working the overnight shift stopped while moving railroad cars and saw a very tall dark figure walking in the distance near an illuminated warehouse building. Both witnesses reacted with surprise and did not approach the figure. The sighting occurred around 1:30 a.m. at a distance described as about a football field.

On September 11, 2016, the witness went to feed trout kept in a barrel at a spring on a family farm and found two fresh tracks in soft mud where cattle had been drinking. An investigator later visited the site, documented the stick fence around the spring and the cast dimensions, and noted additional sounds reported at the location.

The witness was squirrel hunting in the woods in the early morning. After trying to flush a squirrel by hitting a tree trunk with a stick, he moved on and heard distant knocks. He then looked back and saw a tall hair-covered figure peering from behind a nearby tree, after which he fled.

The witness was hunting deer behind the house and watched a small bear-like creature through binoculars for many minutes. The creature turned and showed a solid black hairless human-like face before disappearing silently when the witness glanced away after hearing rocks falling behind. The witness did not feel threatened and saw no limbs, focusing on the head.

The witness and a companion were harvesting ginseng when they heard repeated unusual sounds including a low growl and a loud siren-like tone. The animal stepped over a guardrail, looked at the stopped vehicle, then crossed the two-lane road in two steps and went up the mountain into the woods. In fall 2008 the witness was driving a pickup slowly along a dirt road beside a creek toward a one-lane low-water bridge in the evening. Beside the bridge he saw a large shaggy figure he first took for a bear, which stood upright as he approached and watched him pass within a few feet. He described it as about eight feet tall with long arms, no visible neck, and a hairless human-like face. The figure then stepped into deep water, crossed the creek, and climbed the far bank holding trees, and was gone when the witness returned after dark.

The witness was driving with a companion when the companion reported seeing several upright figures. They returned, parked, and the witness watched four dark figures on a hill about 150 feet away, with two larger standing and squatting and two smaller sitting. After the witness howled, the largest swayed between trees then moved toward a smaller one before the group went over the hill and the couple left.

The witness was deer hunting in the New River Gorge when he noticed movement about 60 yards away. Looking through his rifle scope, he watched a large hand against a poplar tree and then a head with large eyes peering at him for about 20 seconds before it stepped back behind the tree. He did not shoot, heard no sounds of departure, and had to pass near the location to leave the woods.
