LAST WEEK (06/23/25): Close range sighting of a sasquatch by a motorist near Sturgis
The witness was driving alone at night on a highway through the Black Hills when a large dark biped stepped over a guardrail onto the road very close to the car. She saw its shoulders, chest and legs beside the passenger side before it disappeared into darkness behind the vehicle. Frightened, she did not stop and immediately called her fiancé about what she had seen.
Truck driver has early morning sighting on Highway 44 near Missouri River
The witness was driving a straight truck east on a highway near the Missouri River before dawn and saw a dark figure crouched on the right shoulder in the headlights. As the truck closed to about 15 feet, the figure stood on two legs and moved away from the road, appearing as tall as the top of the passenger window. The witness later returned in daylight but found no tracks due to frozen ground, though roadkill remains were present near the spot.

The witness was driving westbound home on Highway 244 when he saw a large, reddish-brown hairy figure standing a few feet off the side of the road. He viewed it in left-side profile for only two to three seconds as he passed, noting its tall lean build, long arms, slouched posture, and thigh hair. When he checked the rear mirror it was gone, and a return visit the next day found only a well-used trail.

The witness, a police officer on midnight patrol, was driving back toward town when he noticed movement in the roadside ditch. Moments later a hair-covered figure ran across the road in front of his vehicle from west to east, visible only from thigh to shoulder in the headlights. He stopped to look but it was gone, and the next morning he found grass impressions showing heel and toes.

After eating in town, the witness drove a dirt road back toward camp in Custer State Park at night. Near the top of a hill, a tall hair-covered figure came down the left embankment, crossed the road directly in front of the truck in a single long step, and continued down the steep slope on the right, dislodging dust and rocks. The witness did not stop, returned to camp, loaded the horse which was uneasy, and left for home.

A party of five was fishing on the Cheyenne River south of Faith when they noticed a tall hairy bear-like creature watching them from across the river. As they hurried to gather their gear to leave, a boy in the group said it was waving at them. The creature was described as taller than the small cottonwood trees along the bank.

A family reports seeing an unidentified tall biped around their rural home over four years, usually at night. The creature is described as 7 to 9 feet tall, walking upright with a slight hunch and running too fast to follow. Footprints, hair, possible saliva, blood stains, and snapped small trees were also found on the property. Up to nine family members in three houses have seen it when arriving, leaving, or moving between houses.

In June 1996 the witness was alone minding a soup pot at a vision-quest camp on Bear Butte when she looked toward a ridge about 100 yards away and saw a figure come over the top. Startled, she looked down and then back, feeling a rush, goosebumps, and a tug on her T-shirt as the figure apparently left very quickly and unseen. She announced she was going to her tent and later heard from elders that such sightings around the camp were considered common and good luck.
