The witness was driving at night on a mountain pass when headlights caught eye reflections high off the ground. The witness stopped, backed up to illuminate an animal standing near the road, initially thinking it was a bear but concluding it was not based on its hair and walk. The animal stayed calm and walked slowly into the trees, covering ground quickly despite the truck noise. The witness left without approaching and later searches for tracks were unsuccessful.

They left quickly, and the husband returned later that evening and found disturbed leaves and torn ground where it had gone.

The creature looked at the witness and continued walking across the road without breaking stride. The animal turned to look at the vehicle, then continued across and scaled a steep embankment on all fours before disappearing out of sight. The witnesses described it as much larger than a human with dark hair hanging from its arms and legs and noted how fast it crossed and left sight.

Three camp counselors were walking a trail at night when the narrator saw a tall, dark bipedal figure moving across a slope on the far side of a stream about 50-60 ft away. The figure passed near the group without answering their shouts, and a companion heard a rock-clacking stepping sound as it moved toward the stream ahead of them. The frightened group retreated to trees, waited until about 1 a.m., then continued out armed with sticks, finding no tracks afterward.

That night after snowfall the witness heard something moving around the tent, and the next morning huge tracks were found circling the tent.

While sitting by a fire, the companion stared toward the road and the witness then saw a tall dark hairy face peering through willows about 30-40 feet away. The figure then crashed through the creek and willows up the hillside out of sight, after which the pair left hastily.

The witness heard a loud crash and rapid thudding sounds, then saw a tall hairy figure running toward the companion from several hundred yards away. After shouting warnings and a shotgun shot, the figure reversed direction and left, and both hikers departed quickly.
