At dawn the witness was dressing in an upstairs bedroom before fishing when he saw a large hairy figure trotting through the edge of the woods toward a cabin and across an earthen dam between ponds. The figure moved with a hunched posture for several seconds before disappearing. The witness went downstairs to check with a companion, who had been elsewhere by a boat and had not seen it.
Youths see unknown hairy primate staring at them from distance
Six companions walking in riverside woods around 12:30 a.m. saw a large furry creature crouched behind a bush between two trees, holding a tree and peering at them. When they turned on a camera light they saw red eyeshine and fled in fear. The video did not capture the creature, and later daytime return visits found bones, fur, and a dead deer nearby.

The witness and her father were hiking back toward Kennedy Meadows Campground after crossing the river upstream when the witness noticed unusual barefoot-like prints in the forest between the river and the Pacific Crest Trail. Both examined the prints, described as large, flat, five-toed and human-like. They could not age the prints precisely but thought they were made after rain five days earlier and within the last day or two.

The witness then saw a large dark figure standing by a tree about 40 feet away, later observed walking upright with bare lower legs and no visible clothing. The witness was driving on a highway east of Radium Hot Springs in daytime when he saw a large dark figure emerge from roadside trees to the edge of the road. The figure was visible briefly ahead before retreating into the trees as the car approached and did not cross the road. Companions in the car did not see the figure.

The witness was driving home with three sisters late at night on an unlit country road when they saw a tall dark furry figure walking along the roadside in the same direction as the car. The witness slowed to a crawl and the figure briefly turned its head, showing yellow eyes, but continued its casual walk without changing course. The witness locked the doors and sped away while the younger sisters in the back were crying.

The witness was riding in an SUV with companions that stopped to observe elk. While looking toward a gulch, the witness reported a dark upright figure walking down a ridge with its arms moving. Companions did not verify the figure because they were watching elk. The figure went into the woods and the witness lost sight of it.

At sunset the witness and a companion were hiking along a creek when they heard singing coming from a culvert. They approached and looked through the culvert and saw the silhouettes of two ape-like creatures with glowing eyes crouched at the far end, swaying and humming. The witnesses left quickly so as not to disturb them.

Late one dark evening the witness went behind the house to release tied dogs. A very tall, wide, white-gray fur-covered figure stood motionless a few feet away upright like a man. The witness avoided looking directly, released the dogs, and walked away; one dog halted and cowered while the figure stared without moving or making sound, eventually letting them leave.

In March 2001 at about 4:30 a.m., the witness was driving home from work on back dirt roads when a tall bipedal figure crossed in front of the headlights in two to three strides. The figure stepped over a fence into a field and disappeared from view. It was described as 6-7 feet tall with long arms and long grayish hair, possibly dust-coated, moving in a lumbering fast walk.

The witness was hiking with dogs on a packed snow trail when other dogs began barking at something ahead. He saw a gorilla-like furry creature sitting in the shade of a pine about 50 yards away watching the dogs. After he tripped in a snow hole, the creature left over the ridge, showing only the back of its head. Deep snow prevented him from following or finding tracks.

The witness was driving with a friend in daylight when both reportedly saw a dark figure dart past a telephone pole into the woods. The witness described it as all black with a long torso and very long arms swinging as it ran very fast and upright. They turned back to search the woods but found nothing there.

The witness and a companion were driving at night toward Pagosa Springs after watching a boxing match. About 20 yards ahead a creature crossed the county road quickly in front of them. They stopped where it crossed and saw footprints in snow on the road before driving away fast.

The witness and his wife snowshoed into their wooded farm property in winter and found two sets of large human-shaped footprints in snow. The prints were old and melted, about 15-16 inches long with about a 52-inch step, extending over 200 yards and separating then rejoining. The witness compared the alternating left-right stride to his own stride and to leaping deer tracks, concluding the stride was too long for a human and the shape differed from deer.

After hearing rustling, the witness saw a large dark hairy figure standing nearby looking at them. After about 10 seconds the figure ran away on two feet, and the witness rode quickly back to camp to tell relatives.

The witness was traveling west along an easement road on a clear afternoon when an animal was seen at close range. The animal was on all fours with its front raised, paused to look at the witness for a few seconds, then ran away quadrupedally without ever standing. The witness described it as dark brown, short-haired and ape-like, estimating about two and a half to three feet tall on all fours.

A couple rollerblading in the mid-afternoon stopped after noticing a large reddish-brown animal on all fours near the road. The animal looked up at them, then ran directly toward them at high speed, appearing to float with its hair flowing, before veering into woods to the north. The witnesses fled on skates, and the witness avoided that stretch of route for months afterward.
