Two brothers scouting a deer-hunting area stopped on a mountaintop logging road in the morning and saw two upright, dark, muscular figures on a nearby mountaintop about 300-500 yards away. The larger figure walked to an overlook, looked toward the witnesses for about 30 seconds, then both figures walked away over the mountain. The witnesses then drove to a fork below, spoke briefly with a horseback rider, and later mentioned the sighting in town.

Two people approaching a bend in a creek to fish saw a creature in the water first thought to be a bear. The animal stood upright, watched them for a short time, then walked to the treeline while continuing to watch them before disappearing into the trees in large steps. In early-morning darkness and light rain the witness was driving a paper route near Arago when a large reddish-brown long-haired animal crossed the road and scaled a steep grassy roadcut within about 15 feet of the truck. The animal moved very fast with rear legs set wide apart and spine not flexing like a bear, using its front limbs hand-over-hand, showing broad shoulders, a flat-profile face and a part in the wet hair along its spine. It reached the top in seconds and went out of sight.

The witness was camping with relatives south of Crater Lake and sleeping alone in a tent at night. While lying in a sleeping bag, the witness heard footsteps approach from the wooded side and saw a human-like outline shadowed in a distant campfire glow. The figure bumped the corner of the tent, shaking it, paused as if staring, then moved toward the front where it could no longer be heard on pavement.

Late at night a witness walking with a dog watched a tall silhouetted figure approach along a ridge. The dog ran ahead then retreated in distress, while the figure paused, crouched, approached closer, then sprinted to cover. Later from concealment it gave two loud screams, and next morning the witness found a line of large forefoot prints.

The two made eye contact for several seconds before both fled in opposite directions, the figure running up the creek. The animal stood, made a gesture, and walked into the forest. As they descended toward the creek they heard noise and saw a bear with a cub feeding nearby, leaving the witness unsure what was seen.

In mid-summer 1975 the witness and a companion were at an isolated creek swimming hole. While washing hair in the water, the witness noticed a head watching from behind a fallen log, which then ducked out of view. Moments later the witness saw the head, shoulder, arm and upper torso of a very tall brownish hair-covered upright creature near scrub vegetation across the creek. Both people quickly left the water, and a later search of the hillside revealed nothing.
