City planner sees large upright animal while touring property near Punta Gorda
In spring 2006 the witness was touring a large ranch in a converted school bus with county review staff. While the bus slowed for hogs, the witness looked across a flooded pasture and saw a tall, dark-haired bipedal figure standing on a small rise about 125 to 150 yards away. The figure was visible for a few seconds before vegetation blocked the view, turning its upper body toward the bus as it passed while apparently holding something in its arms.

As they approached closer, the figure turned and jogged into the woods beside the trail. On September 18, 2005, the witness observed a large hairy creature walking upright through the backyard for about a minute. The creature was described as over six feet tall with a pointed head and moving very fast. The witness felt the creature wanted to be seen.

When the witness approached palmettos to check a noise, he saw eyes, heard a growl, and watched the creature stand to about nine feet tall. Two people driving east on US 41 to go fishing reported seeing a creature about 50 yards north of the road. The creature turned, took three steps, and knelt down in the grass with its head still visible. The witnesses estimated it was about eight feet tall, and after turning around for another look they did not see it again.

Three youths riding in the back of a pickup while spotlighting for deer saw a tall hair-covered figure standing off the road in trees. The spotlight lit it for a second or two, then the truck backed up and the figure was gone. The witnesses noticed a foul sour odor, became scared, and left the area.

Early on February 18, 2003, the witness was driving east on Interstate 10 when lights from a passing tractor-trailer revealed a figure stepping onto the highway. He slowed, turned on high beams, and watched a tall reddish-haired non-human creature trot across both lanes and the shoulder in a few steps. The observation lasted up to about 30 seconds from about sixty to seventy yards away.

They saw a very large furry figure with red eyes standing partly behind a tree watching them, then saw it walking away on two legs with an ape-like limping gait. Both ran back to tell their parents, then returned minutes later with a flashlight but the figure was gone.

After hearing rustling, the witness saw a large dark hairy figure standing nearby looking at them. The witness was traveling west along an easement road on a clear afternoon when an animal was seen at close range. The animal was on all fours with its front raised, paused to look at the witness for a few seconds, then ran away quadrupedally without ever standing. The witness described it as dark brown, short-haired and ape-like, estimating about two and a half to three feet tall on all fours.

A couple rollerblading in the mid-afternoon stopped after noticing a large reddish-brown animal on all fours near the road. The animal looked up at them, then ran directly toward them at high speed, appearing to float with its hair flowing, before veering into woods to the north. The witnesses fled on skates, and the witness avoided that stretch of route for months afterward.

Around 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 1, 2000, the reporter and a fellow security officer were standing outside a guarded building talking. The fellow officer reacted and said he saw a tall, all-black, heavily built figure near the tree line that moved out of view around another building. The reporter himself saw nothing, and a search on foot and by vehicle found nothing.
