Daylight sighting by motorists on Hwy 24 near Seneca
The witness was riding as a passenger with a relative on a familiar road to visit friends when both noticed an animal in the road near a bridge over a swampy pond. After the driver slowed and sounded the horn, the animal stood upright, looked toward the car, then sprinted quickly across the swamp toward the woods. The witness stated familiarity with bears and claimed this was not a bear. When they returned shortly after, they saw remains of a small animal in the road that it may have been eating.

The witness, then age 13, rode a bike up the road to get a newspaper with a dog alongside and noticed a strong onion-like odor. In a hollow beside the road the witness saw a very large, light-brown hair-covered creature eating wild grapes that looked at the witness and moved toward them. The frightened witness fled home on the bike as the dog also ran home, then looked back to see the creature climb over a fence and go back into the forest.
Possible early morning sighting along country road near Pickens
Around mid-summer 1981, the witness was riding a bicycle home in the early morning hours ahead of a companion. Near an intersection he looked back and saw a whitish object moving quickly from one side of a barbed-wire fence to the other into woods, knocking branches aside. He did not get a clear view and first thought of a horse, but on revisiting the site the next day concluded a horse could not have moved that way through the dense cover.

Three children playing near an old railroad bed in the evening heard a shrill wailing sound and went to investigate. On the other side of the track bed they saw a tall, very hairy creature standing and looking at them. After staring for about 15 seconds, the children ran screaming back to the house.

While walking in a remote forested area near a lake at twilight, the witness saw a large reddish figure cross a dirt road and enter dense forest. The figure reportedly noticed the witness, then ran uphill paralleling the road while emitting a loud distress-like scream with heavy footfalls. The frightened witness fled the area.

While on night patrol as a military security officer, the witness turned vehicle headlights back on in a curve and illuminated a large hairy human-like creature mid-stride. The creature leapt over a roadside ditch and disappeared into the treeline within about three seconds. The witness reported the encounter to a supervisor, who advised against filing an official report.

During the summer of 1970, the witness and four companions were playing outside at night in the backyard when they noticed a strong dead-like odor. They then observed red glowing eyes in the dark woods beyond the chainlink fence from a taller-than-human figure that stood watching them. Frightened, the children ran inside to tell relatives but were not believed.

The witness was driving at night with a companion when an erect, hair-covered creature crossed the highway in front of the vehicle. The driver braked and alerted the companion, who saw only a brief glimpse as it entered dense woods. The driver searched the crossing point with a flashlight but found no tracks or other sign.

The witness and the witness's father were moving slowly upriver by boat when the witness spotted a hairy figure crouched on the bank. They made brief eye contact before the figure dove into the river with arms extended and disappeared. The men went to the spot and found only smears in the clay, then waited about 20 minutes without it resurfacing.
