Shortly after, they saw a large brownish hair-covered creature watching them from behind a tree on a hillside, which then walked away toward the campground road. The father also reported seeing it cross the road ahead while lifting a wire out of its way, and the family quickly left the area.

At the woods edge near the apartments it stopped and stared at them before they ran toward town and abandoned their gear for two days.
