In the early afternoon the witness was gigging for frogs from a relative's boathouse pier when a tall, dark, hairy biped emerged from a swamp about 175-250 yards away and waded knee-deep into the water. The creature looked both ways, bent over twice to swing an arm into the water with a splash as if fishing, then stared toward the witness before walking back into the swamp like a person. A few minutes later it reappeared at the same spot and repeated the same actions before leaving again and not returning during another hour the witness remained.

That night after snowfall the witness heard something moving around the tent, and the next morning huge tracks were found circling the tent.

The coworkers thought it was a man in dark clothing, but the witness disagreed. A later visit to the clearing found no tracks because the ground was too grassy.

The witness was riding as a passenger on a late-night drive between Forks and Kalaloch when she noticed a small upright figure standing on the right shoulder. As the car passed very close, she looked directly at its face for a few seconds while it stood still with its arms moving in front of its face. A companion who was driving did not see it. She later came to believe it was a young Sasquatch and stated it was not any known regional animal.
