An elder witness watching from his front porch saw a deer running fast across a field with a large grey bipedal creature chasing it. The creature reportedly used its arms and legs in a loping run. Both animals left view, after which the witness heard the deer bleat, then a thump, then silence.

While the companion stepped away, the witness heard a noise and saw a furry figure peeking from behind a tree 50 to 75 yards away. The witness was outside in the driveway on a cell phone call around midnight when they noticed two dark figures moving across a moonlit field. The larger figure, estimated at 7-8 feet tall, watched the witness while walking with an apelike gait and swinging arms, accompanied by a smaller 4-5 foot figure that appeared to forage. After crouching in tall grass, both figures moved toward trees and darkness to the southwest, and a rock or object struck a nearby shed as the witness went inside.

The reporter herself did not see the figure. The daughter described seeing only its back for a few seconds through trees bare of lower branches. On the return trip the reporter noticed the Eufaula exit sign and recalled a television program about sightings in that area.

The grandchild later said the animal resembled a movie character but with a head bump and was not standing upright.

The entity crossed both northbound lanes, the median, and the southbound lanes in two long strides, running upright with its arms at its sides. The witness heard grunting and movement in nearby woods, then saw a large hair-covered biped rise from behind a fallen tree and retreat into the woods. The dog chased the creature while the witness ran home, and the dog returned later unharmed. A strong road-kill-like odor was noted around the time of the sighting.

The two stared at each other before the creature turned and walked away upright, and the witness reported being badly frightened and smelling a musky odor when the wind shifted.

The animal stayed low and bent over, moved awkwardly with weak-looking front limbs and kicking hind legs, then vanished. Both occupants compared it to a gorilla and later agreed it could not have been a bobcat.
