The witness was scouting for a deer stand site in a swampy pine forest in the early afternoon. After hearing a distant splash and nearby snapping limbs, the witness saw a massive ape-like animal running away while grunting. The animal disappeared into the swamp, leaving a strong musk smell. The witness left, unsure what had been seen.

They drove to the spot where it left the road and found the brush undisturbed and no tracks.

He watched for about ten seconds while they stood side by side swaying, then ran downstairs and outside but they were gone.
