Four companions were at a forest picnic camping area late at night and tried wood knocks after noticing eyeshine. Two companions left the vehicle with lights and encountered a very tall hair-covered figure that stepped from behind a tree, looked at them, then walked away slowly. After retreating to the vehicle, the group saw a brown shape crawling toward them and drove away quickly. A companion recorded video of the encounter on a phone.

The witness was driving up Crane Mountain in daylight when a black hair-covered biped was seen moving up a steep embankment beside the road. The creature took large fluid strides uphill, paused to look back at the witness, then continued out of sight as its hair showed a copper-colored sheen in sunlight. The witness then left the area.

Two occupants driving toward Missoula in morning daylight spotted a very tall, uniformly black bipedal figure moving rapidly across an open hillside across the highway and river. The driver watched it with binoculars while the passenger attempted cell-phone photos, observing for about two to two-and-a-half minutes as it crossed right to left then turned uphill with long strides and swinging arms. Both described it as much larger than a person and moving at a running pace despite a relaxed walking gait.

The witness was driving on a private dirt road in the morning when he noticed a black two-legged figure about a quarter-mile away walking across a side road with an unusual sauntering, swinging gait. He stopped and backed up for a better view, but the figure was gone. Investigators later visited, measured the crossing, and recreated the figure from memory as much larger than a human, about 8'7" tall with very long arms and no visible clothing lines.

A tow truck driver was loading a car that had struck an elk late at night when he heard a deep grunt. He shone a light and saw an upright creature dragging the dead elk one-handed by the antlers through deep snow into a drainage. The creature looked at him, continued dragging the elk about 100 feet, and disappeared from view after about 15 seconds.

Early one fall morning the witness opened a door to let dogs out and saw a large hairy biped near the well head a short distance away. The creature turned to face the witness and emitted a loud scream that caused intense fear and crying. After standing face-to-face for a couple of minutes, it turned and walked away downhill on two legs. A partner inside heard the vocalization from bed.

The witness was fishing alone from a creek bank when he noticed a persistent decay-like odor. He then saw a reddish-brown female-appearing figure squatting across the creek near a beaver dam, apparently washing something in the water. After watching briefly, he stood and shouted, at which point the figure stood, made a short vocal sound, and left quickly. He returned to camp frightened and stayed there.

The witness was driving a shuttle van alone at night toward a coal mine near Decker, Montana. A tall, long-haired figure walking on the right side of the road crossed in front of the van, forcing a hard stop, then stood on the left shoulder with its back to the vehicle before leaving into a ditch toward a fence. The witness returned in daylight to measure roadside features for a size estimate of at least eight feet tall and found no hair or tracks.

A truck driver and a companion driving south on a highway in Montana reported seeing a large hairy upright figure sprint across the road about 40 feet ahead. The figure crossed in three or four steps and dropped into brush by a river after only a few seconds. Both occupants said they saw it plainly and were certain it was neither a bear nor a person.

The larger figure stood behind a much smaller one with arms outstretched and stepped forward while the smaller one leaned toward the water. The sighting lasted only seconds before the view was blocked, and the figures were gone when she recrossed the bridge about half an hour later.

About 50 yards away they saw a creature sitting on an old tree stump just inside the woods watching them. The witness said it turned by moving its whole upper torso as if it had no neck, then looked back before the group fled.

The witness and cousins were riding horses home through a brushy trail in the evening when their horses became agitated. A very tall, very hairy bipedal figure ran beside them, crossed the trail about 40 feet ahead, paused at the brush edge to stare, then disappeared into trees. On a winter night around 11:30 p.m., the witness was traveling home from work near Sidney, Montana when a tall light-haired biped crossed the highway ahead at the end of a coulee guardrail section and continued north without looking toward the witness. The figure was described as well over six feet tall with hair that was darker at the skin than at the tips. The witness was traveling alone, was frightened by the encounter, and did not return the next day to look for tracks in the snow.

As a child attending a Scout Jamboree, the witness says a friend led him to a river where they watched a roughly 6-foot-tall gorilla-like animal across the water. The animal stood upright with its back to them, plucking leaves with its hands and eating for a couple minutes before walking into brush. They stayed in the area for several days afterward but never saw it again.

He shone the lamp on movement about 10 feet away and watched a large hairy biped move rapidly up the steep rocky bank and disappear within seconds. Afterward he noticed two of his four pooled trout were missing and heard a boulder crash downstream, then left with the remaining fish.
