A semi-truck driver traveling east on Highway 30 through the Des Moines River valley at twilight saw three deer run across the road ahead, followed about 75 yards behind by a tall hairy biped apparently chasing them. The biped crossed the highway ditch and lane in a few long strides. As the truck reached the crossing point, the creature stood at the edge of the tree line about 75 feet off the road watching the truck pass and turning to watch the deer.

The figure stood as the car approached as if to cross the road, and its eyes reflected yellow in the headlights. The witness was sitting on back porch steps late at night waiting for her boyfriend when she saw a large upright figure cross the road about 150 feet away near a streetlight. The figure continued across and disappeared behind tall shrubs along a neighbor's driveway. Neighbor's penned hunting dogs then began barking intensely, and the witness went inside; her mother and boyfriend heard the dogs but did not see the figure.

The witness and a relative were hunting geese from a concealed blind in a harvested field when they noticed movement to the east. They observed a tall black figure in side profile walking very fast while stooped over, heading north toward a gravel pit until it left their line of sight. They walked to the area afterward but found no tracks, noting the ground was frozen and the figure had been on a gravel road.

Two people fishing at night from a riverbank shined a flashlight across the water and saw red eyes and a large dark body in overhanging limbs. The animal stood upright, waded toward them with loud splashing steps, then turned downriver continuing to walk bipedally while making a low guttural sound. The witnesses retreated to a nearby campground where the splashing remained audible and a dog was heard howling.

Four college students were driving slowly on a snow-covered road at night when a large hair-covered biped came from a field toward the road. It stepped over fences and ditches and crossed in front of their car from right to left without looking at them. The occupants watched it continue into the opposite field and drove on without stopping to look for it.

On a moonlit night in summer 1970, the witness was on a road by a cornfield with a companion when a large brownish creature was heard and then seen running across the road, down a ditch, over a fence and into the cornfield. The creature had a foul smell. The witness returned the next day and found large smudged footprints in the road and cornfield.
