After the father felled a large cedar snag, the child climbed onto the downed trunk when a small, muscular, dark-furred being jumped onto the log face-to-face with him. The child screamed and the being ran away on two legs toward the top of the tree and disappeared into brush. Both had felt watched just before felling, but no animal had been seen in the standing tree.
