The animal paused in the ditch and appeared to look for traffic before taking long strides across the highway and down the opposite ditch. The witness looked into the forest where it went but could not relocate it because it moved fast into dense trees.

Both occupants agreed it was not a bear or monkey and described it as about four and a half to five feet tall, dark brown and ape-like.

The witness, then 14, stepped outside at home mid-morning and saw a solid milk-chocolate-colored bipedal figure emerge into a field. The witness later estimated its height at about 7 to 7.5 feet using a nearby tree limb and estimated its weight at several hundred pounds.

The witness looked out the kitchen window and saw a tall hair-covered biped running into the canyon with a side-to-side motion. After watching for about one to two minutes, they turned and ran back to camp without seeing what it did. Poorly defined pushed-in depressions were later noticed in soft gravel and sand in the general area.

They then saw a single slim, reddish-brown hair-covered figure standing in a partial crouch in the middle of the tracks about 150 yards away, watching them.
