The witness was traveling west along an easement road on a clear afternoon when an animal was seen at close range. The animal was on all fours with its front raised, paused to look at the witness for a few seconds, then ran away quadrupedally without ever standing. The witness described it as dark brown, short-haired and ape-like, estimating about two and a half to three feet tall on all fours.

On Christmas Eve 2000 two people driving toward Winslow on Highway 87 passed a tall hairy figure beside the road near Jacks Canyon. The figure was seen in the headlights from about fifteen feet away and covered its face against the glare. The driver turned around to look again, but the figure had left at high speed into a nearby canyon, leaving long barefoot tracks in snow.

Two teenage hunters were in an enclosed ground-level deer stand when they noticed something approaching wild hogs. They watched for about 10 minutes as it moved crouched, scratched its head and made deer-like blowing sounds, then stood upright after hearing a shotgun clink, causing the hogs to flee. The witnesses fled on a 4-wheeler and one looked back to see it standing by a tree watching them leave.

Late at night the witness and three companions were shining for deer from a truck when they spotted a large crouched figure with amber eyes in a field. The figure stood up and ran diagonally toward the truck as they drove away. It kept pace to within about ten feet while the truck reached at least 30 mph, then disappeared into the tree line.

The animal stood upright and walked slowly across the road in front of the car, appearing injured with blood on its side, then descended an embankment toward woods leading to a river. The occupants described it as bear-like at first but then gorilla-like, muscular, and walking on two legs.

The witness was hunting turkey with a relative on wooded state land when he noticed movement about 20 yards away. He observed a stocky, hair-covered biped at least six feet tall that swiftly ran downhill and out of sight. The relative was looking another direction and did not see it. The witness and her husband were driving on a narrow gravel road looking for deer in the early afternoon when they noticed a large brown hairy figure bent over near a pine thicket. The figure then stood upright on two legs, showing long arms, broad shoulders, and an estimated 7- to 8-foot height, before running quickly into the thicket. The pair returned the next morning and reported finding small and large footprints, hair on a fence, damaged fencing and poles, and a persimmon with no nearby tree.

Two people driving north on a forest road in daylight saw a large black figure walking on the shoulder toward them. They described it as bulky with huge limbs, moving with a swagger, and showing no discernible features. They stopped and backed up as it moved into the woods near the shoulder, moved branches, then returned to the shoulder and walked toward them again. They left the area, and a later return found no sign of it.

The witness was driving south on Highway 219 out of Hillsboro at night with high beams on while scanning for wildlife. The headlights illuminated a tall, upright, shaggy animal standing motionless in a field a short distance from the road. The witness estimated it at about 8 feet tall, noted it faced the lights without reflective eyes, and passed it in seconds at 55 mph. On driving by again about an hour later, the animal was gone.
