Two companions walking a hillside trail at night heard a loud snap and saw two large bipedal figures silhouetted against city lights. After one companion shouted, a second shorter figure stood up beside the taller slumped figure, and both fled on two legs crashing through small trees. The witnesses estimated the taller figure at 7.5 to 8 feet tall, hid at the fire tower overnight, and noted broken limbs and a sweet unpleasant odor in the area the next morning.

The witness and a companion carried makeshift torches toward the woods at dusk but turned back at the tree line. A large grey figure rushed toward them from the woods, prompting them to flee to the house. After waiting inside, they saw a large grey ape-like creature squatting in the field watching them, then retreated again. Overnight they heard commotion, and next morning found shredded torches, a belt torn with teeth marks, and dents in a parked car.

A tall figure stepped out from behind a tree close to them, prompting them to flee to camp, arm themselves, and enlarge the fire. A family camping at Sunrise Beach heard branch-breaking sounds overnight and the next morning found a very large footprint in a dried creek bed. Shortly after, they saw a large brownish hair-covered creature watching them from behind a tree on a hillside, which then walked away toward the campground road. The father also reported seeing it cross the road ahead while lifting a wire out of its way, and the family quickly left the area.

As a child the witness hid in an old corn crib during a hide-and-seek game near a relative's house at sundown. Inside the dark crib the witness heard heavy breathing and saw a huge hairy man-like creature standing over them staring, with a hog-pen-like smell. The witness ran back to the house crying and reported the encounter to a relative, who did not take it seriously.
