After it left, the witness heard a loud snap behind and left the area.

The witness had been retrieving items from a storage shed with friends and stayed behind to latch the door, then hurried to catch up. Hearing rustling leaves, he stopped and saw a large dark hairy figure about 15 feet away on the other side of a chain-link fence. He watched for about 30-45 seconds, hearing heavy breathing and an intermittent deep growl, then slowly walked away out of fear.

In the morning the pair found a snapped tree, strong odor, widely spaced ground marks and a five-toed partial print, which the witness attributed to a large visitor.

The figure moved to another tree while being watched for 2-3 minutes, then ran down the creek out of sight. The witness remained by the fire until daylight and found no prints in the morning.

She watched it through binoculars for about 15 minutes, seeing yellow eyes looking back, before leaving for camp without telling her husband why.
