When the witness was a child, they were awakened at night and saw a large shadow filling the bedroom window. They went to the back door and watched a large black hairy figure step over a chain-link fence and walk into the woods. The figure was later described as about eight feet tall with a conical head tilted forward and swinging arms.

Three college students walked back to their dorms along railway tracks at night after buying snacks. Ahead of them a dark shape crossed the tracks and briefly blocked a distant streetlight. A short distance later they smelled a strong wet-dog odor and the reporter saw a tall creature at close range with shining eyes. The group fled to their dorm, later drove back for another look without approaching closely, and the reporter retrieved dropped groceries the next day.
Camper has night sighting near Crater Lake
The witness was camping with relatives south of Crater Lake and sleeping alone in a tent at night. While lying in a sleeping bag, the witness heard footsteps approach from the wooded side and saw a human-like outline shadowed in a distant campfire glow. The figure bumped the corner of the tent, shaking it, paused as if staring, then moved toward the front where it could no longer be heard on pavement.

The witness was waiting above ground while two companions explored a pit, sitting reading in a jeep in a grassy clearing. He noticed a dark form moving in the treeline and called out, thinking it was the landowner, then moved to a power-line opening for a clearer view. The figure paused and stared for about 10 seconds, appearing as a 6-7 foot tall biped covered in long dark brown fur/hair, before walking away into the trees.

The group regrouped inside, and dogs normally around the house were absent that night but returned frightened in the morning.

In 1979 two companions were squirrel hunting along a dry creek bed in late afternoon when their dog became agitated and ran off. They then saw a very tall dark silhouette standing on the high creek bank about 80 yards away that stepped behind a tree and did not reappear. Frightened, they left the creek by a low spot and returned home, finding the dog hiding under the house.

Late at night the witness was driving home along Highway 50 near the Sulphur River bottom when headlights from his car and an oncoming car lit a large dark upright figure on the roadside. The figure quickly crossed the two-lane road in a few long walking steps, appearing slumped forward with arms swinging. The witness slowed, stopped, turned around and searched the area with headlights but found nothing further.

In winter 1977-1978 the witness and a companion were driving east on M-28 near Seney around 1:30 a.m. They saw a figure crossing the road ahead, backlit by headlights from beyond a knoll. The figure moved hunched over, then stood upright in the middle of the road showing broad manlike shoulders, arms, torso and a defined head before slouching and continuing across. They slowed near the spot and looked for tracks but spent little time searching due to cold and unease.

The witness was heading inside for supper when a dog barked toward the river. The witness saw a large shaggy upright creature about 100 yards away running toward the river, which stopped, faced the witness, and gave a loud high-pitched scream described as roar-like. A strong rotten-fish odor was noticed, and the witness fled inside with the dog.

At age six the witness was outside with a relative in late summer 1976 in Canyon City and watched a hair-covered figure standing on a hill across the road backlit by the setting sun for about a minute. The figure then turned and walked away out of sight. The witness ran inside to tell family, and parents later found large footprints on the hill.

After bedding down in an open three-sided shelter, the witness awoke around midnight to a strong odor and saw a tall hairy bipedal silhouette backlit by the campfire. The figure urinated onto the adjacent occupant's sleeping bag before stepping off the shelter floor and leaving. The group then left the isolated shelter for a more populated campground nearby.

Five women staying overnight at a rural farmhouse heard loud piercing screams approaching from up a hill toward the house. A backlit tall, large-framed figure walking hunched over passed in front of the front picture windows and beat on the house, and a very hairy leg was seen when the front door was opened. The figure then went around the corner of the house and disappeared, leaving a burning skunk-like smell. Two men who had been away returned later and searched the large farm into the early morning without finding anything.

The witness and a cousin were on an overnight fishing trip and sleeping at a riverside camp. In the middle of the night the witness awoke to hissing sounds and saw a broad-shouldered silhouetted figure about 20 feet away behind a fence for several minutes. The figure then turned and left silently, after which rapid clicking sounds like rocks striking were heard moving away across the river.

A teenager and an older neighbor spent the night on a boat at a marina to catch suspected vandals. During the night the teenager saw a huge hair-covered figure crouched at an overturned trashcan scooping garbage, then stand upright and stare briefly. The figure stepped over the trashcan, sprang up an embankment, and disappeared into brush, leaving disturbed dew, strewn garbage, and broken brush.
