The driver turned around and approached on foot with a flashlight, then saw a large dark-haired animal stand upright about 30 feet away in a borrow pit. A young companion reportedly saw a black, hairy, muscular animal about six feet tall descend from a tree and shake brush, though the face could not be seen.

The animal charged on all fours, killed a hog with blows, then carried it off while exchanging whooping calls with another unseen individual. It paused to stare at the witness before leaving. A hunting partner nearby heard the attack scream and whoops.

During military wargame training in the woods, a squad heard a low growl and high scream and saw a distant figure they first mistook for opposing forces. After they called out, the figure stood to about seven to eight feet, was judged not human, and threw rocks toward them before running to the treeline. While stopped with the passenger window open, the witness heard an extremely loud scream and then saw a tall, dark-haired, muscular creature a few feet from the car. The creature took a couple of large steps toward the redwoods, went around a tree, and disappeared into dense brush. The encounter lasted only a few seconds and left the witness badly shaken.

She saw a large fur-covered creature on its knees drinking, which then stood up very tall and stepped over a stump. She ran screaming toward the trailer while the creature also screamed, and her companion heard it screaming and breaking trees as it moved away.

He returned the next day to recover the flashlight and found only flattened grass with no footprints or hair.
