Three college students walked back to their dorms along railway tracks at night after buying snacks. Ahead of them a dark shape crossed the tracks and briefly blocked a distant streetlight. A short distance later they smelled a strong wet-dog odor and the reporter saw a tall creature at close range with shining eyes. The group fled to their dorm, later drove back for another look without approaching closely, and the reporter retrieved dropped groceries the next day.

The witness went to the bottom of a hill near a relative's home at Canton Lake to smoke. After hearing a crushing and rustling noise, the witness saw a tall black bipedal being about twenty yards away that looked at the witness and raised its arms. The creature then continued south toward Salt Creek while emitting a terrible smell. The frightened rider got up and left. Two people sitting in a cemetery after dark heard something approaching down a ridge and through trees. A tall white hair-covered human-like figure stepped over the fence, crossed the cemetery, then noticed the witnesses and left quickly over the opposite fence into timber with loud crashing. The witnesses reported a very strong unpleasant odor during the encounter.

A work crew waiting on the roof of a house in early daylight watched a tall hairy figure come out of the basement and walk upright toward nearby trees. The figure then squatted about 40 yards away facing the crew without sound before standing, looking west, and vanishing within a few steps. The crew later noted a foul odor and a makeshift sleeping spot of clothes, rags, weeds and fur under the basement stairs.

The figure then walked off the road, crossed to the nearby tree line while looking back several times, and disappeared into the forest.

The witness and a companion were driving north on the levee gravel road at dusk after a fishing trip. An upright hair-covered figure emerged from tall grass, crossed the road in front of the vehicle headlights, and went down into tall grass on the other side and out of sight. As the vehicle passed through the path it had taken, the witness smelled a very strong musty and putrid odor.

A group of six people observed a large, brown, long-haired, foul-smelling animal for about 15 seconds in the morning. The animal walked quickly away without running and disappeared into a swampy wooded area when they tried to follow. The witness found footprints, made a cast of one and gave it to the state natural resources agency without receiving a response, and noted another print in stream clay. No vocalizations were heard and the encounter was described as not life-threatening.
