Early morning sighting on US 59 near Poteau
The witness was driving at night and turned onto a county road when the headlights revealed a tall hunched figure on the roadside. The figure ran into the trees as the vehicle approached. The witness slowed with the windows down to look for it and heard a very loud growl but did not see it again.
Young man has midnight close encounter
The witness had been retrieving items from a storage shed with friends and stayed behind to latch the door, then hurried to catch up. Hearing rustling leaves, he stopped and saw a large dark hairy figure about 15 feet away on the other side of a chain-link fence. He watched for about 30-45 seconds, hearing heavy breathing and an intermittent deep growl, then slowly walked away out of fear.
Boys have early morning encounter at watermelon patch off road
Late at night the witness and a friend stood in a rural road with dogs while waiting. They both saw a figure standing erect behind a large tree by a melon patch about 50-60 yards away. A deep, resonating growl came from the field that frightened them and the dogs, and they fled. They later heard whistles and howls from the woods for hours before falling asleep near dawn.
