Ginseng hunter and stepson have lengthy encounter 20 miles west of Beckley
The witness and a companion were harvesting ginseng when they heard repeated unusual sounds including a low growl and a loud siren-like tone. Over several minutes they heard heavy fast footsteps and watched smaller trees shake violently while catching partial glimpses of a large bipedal creature that kept trees between itself and them. Several trees snapped and fell in the same direction, and rocks were later seen rolling down a nearby point. The pair inspected freshly broken trees before leaving the area the way they came.

The witness was driving home alone at night on a narrow wooded road when eyeshine caused her to slow near a curve. Her headlights revealed a brown-haired bipedal creature standing off the road about ten feet away. The creature watched her pass, making eye contact and showing pointed teeth, then turned its head to follow until she left the area. She felt intense fear only after passing.

The witness was hunting deer in a river basin in the evening when he heard brush breaking and later saw movement in trees about 80-90 yards away. Through naked eye and rifle scope he observed an upright hair-covered creature watching him, bending its knees repeatedly, then walking across the basin while continuing to watch before entering timber. He left the area quickly without pursuing tracks and reported no further incident.

The witness and a young relative were walking by a lake at night while camping when they heard a commotion. They watched two very large black upright figures and then a third taller one stripping branches and bark from trees for about 15 minutes from about 125 feet away before running back to their camper. The next day the witness returned to find stripped trees and limbs piled at their bases.

The witness was deer hunting from an old tree stand on a mountain crest in the morning and dozed off. A strong odor and rustling woke the witness to see a small reddish-brown hair-covered biped below eating discarded fruit. A much larger black hair-covered biped then approached vocalizing, the two interacted and appeared to notice the witness before leaving, and a hunting companion nearby also reported seeing a large upright figure moving fast through trees.

Five people drove to a rural spot at night to hang out. After dogs in a hollow below barked then fell suddenly silent, the group heard movement in brush and saw a tall fur-covered figure stand at the hill edge making huffing sounds. When the driver turned on the car headlights the figure covered its face and moved behind trees as the group fled in the car.

The witness was walking home through a graveyard at dusk when they noticed a large dark hairy creature among the tombstones. The creature paced, appeared to dig at a grave, made wailing sounds, and made shoulder-shrugging and hopping movements. When it noticed the witness it acted agitated and started toward them, causing the witness to leave.
