Man has extraordinary, close encounter while fishing near Huntington
The witness was bass fishing along a lake bank when a commotion in nearby woods drew attention. A large upright apelike creature about seven to eight feet tall emerged, made whoop sounds and a low growl, snapped off a small tree and slapped the ground while staring with flexed muscles. The witness slowly backed away looking down, the animal followed a short distance then turned, paused near a bushy spot, and walked into the woods. The witness rejoined companions who laughed, and has not returned to the area.
Sighting by two hikers
Two companions on a hiking and camping trip followed grunting and rock-crashing sounds along a remote game trail. Through dense woods they saw bulky upright figures, first taken for a standing bear but judged to be something unfamiliar with a large upper body and no visible neck. When they returned to the spot the figures were gone, leaving stacked large rocks, broken branches and a powerful dung-like smell, after which they left the area.

The witness was reading late at home while dogs barked outside in the rain. A large hairy figure passed the back door making whistling and other sounds, and the porch light went out. While driving in a truck at twilight, the witness and a companion watched a large upright furry figure cross the road in a few long strides and disappear into the trees at the road edge. After stopping and getting out, they heard movement ahead in the woods, then a loud scream, and ran back to the truck while wailing continued behind them. They agreed they had encountered a bigfoot and returned the next day to find broken limbs but no footprints.

The witness, then age 13, rode a bike up the road to get a newspaper with a dog alongside and noticed a strong onion-like odor. In a hollow beside the road the witness saw a very large, light-brown hair-covered creature eating wild grapes that looked at the witness and moved toward them. The frightened witness fled home on the bike as the dog also ran home, then looked back to see the creature climb over a fence and go back into the forest.

In late afternoon in September 1986 the witness was rabbit hunting and walking home on a regular trail when a strong foul odor was noticed. From about 12 yards away the witness watched for about 10 minutes as a large hair-covered creature sat cross-legged in a blueberry patch eating berries with its hands. As darkness approached the witness revealed himself, and the creature stood without using its hands and calmly walked away into the brush.

The witness was camping with companions on a multi-day hike and looked out of a tent early in the morning to see two hair-covered figures in vegetation about seventy feet away. The larger figure reached toward branches while the smaller handled a stick, then the larger vocalized, took the smaller's hand, and both left behind trees. The companions did not see the figures, and the witness later mentioned the sighting to a ranger while leaving the area.

Two teenagers camped on a mountain logging road were harassed by thrown sticks, loud grunting and tree-banging sounds, and a strong foul odor. When they shone a light into the woods about 25 yards away, they saw a very tall fur-covered figure that ducked behind a tree. They put out their fire and fled down the trail, saying the figure followed them most of the way back.

The witness was riding with a companion in daylight when they noticed a small upright figure by the roadside holding a stick. The figure dropped to all fours, moved into the road, then stood bipedally and crossed slowly in front of the car, forcing a brake. After passing, it dropped to all fours again, glanced back, and left into the woods. Both occupants agreed it was not a bear or monkey and described it as about four and a half to five feet tall, dark brown and ape-like.

They reported a tall hair-covered biped appearing very close across the creek, watching them, vocalizing, then moving uphill without slipping. The being paralleled them as they descended and was last seen crouching on a boulder near their vehicle.

After hearing a repeated striking sound, the witness looked across the river and saw a large dark bipedal figure repeatedly lifting a fish overhead and striking it on a rock. After watching briefly the figure carried the fish away toward the woods, and the witness reeled in and ran to tell the relative, who suggested it was another fisher and did not investigate.

In the fall of 1983 the witness rode a bike to a friend's house at the end of a wooded gravel lane and found no one home. He then saw a tall black-haired upright figure tear a limb from a tree and look at him. He fled by bike toward the main road while hearing branches breaking and heavy footsteps alongside him until he reached the highway, where the sounds stopped.

He raced to a more open trail and looked back to see a very tall, shaggy reddish-brown creature with dark bare facial skin standing at the tree line watching him. He reported a horrible stench filling the air and an absence of normal forest sounds, saying the sighting lasted about half a minute and left him avoiding the woods for months.

The witness, a teenager on a deer-hunting trip on private wooded land in North Carolina, was waiting in a tree stand in the morning when he noticed a strong bad odor and then heard twigs snapping. He watched the upper half of a large dark-furred creature about 50 yards away standing in one spot eating leaves for several minutes before it walked away while still audible. When companions arrived he recounted the sighting and they suggested it was a bear, which he rejected because he had seen a bear earlier that day.

Near the bridge at Fairmount Road, the witness saw a reddish-brown figure digging at the ground beside the bridge.
