The figure stayed largely still while turning its head to follow the slow-moving vehicle for an estimated 15-20 seconds at close range. The driver then accelerated away and stopped at a rest area to recover from fright.

The creature reportedly stared toward a lead vehicle that braked and swerved, then walked off into a field. The witness and companion were frightened and returned home by a different route.

A couple driving toward Sacramento on Highway 50 at night saw a tall hairy figure standing in a pullout on the north side of the road. The figure was illuminated by high beams from about 20 to 30 feet away and appeared to be watching traffic. The viewing lasted only a few seconds at highway speed, and both occupants described a very large, thick, dark brown to black figure.

The witness went with two companions to a river area to swim and fish and wandered a short distance away. After hearing thumping, the witness saw a tall hairy figure on a hill partially concealed by brush and a boulder looking down. They observed each other for about a minute before the witness fled to the car and drove home with the companions.

The witness was driving north on Highway 101 north of Willits in daylight when a large hair-covered biped entered the roadway and ran across the lanes in front of the car. The witness braked and then stopped as the animal paused at the road edge about 25 feet away, turned its upper body and stared for about five seconds. The animal then bounded up a steep embankment on all fours and left.

A gold-tan something stood by the rear window and twice patted or palmed the car door, causing the witness to sit in the dark. On the afternoon of August 11, 2007, the witness was resting near the Pacific Crest Trail in the southern high Sierras when he noticed two upright, dark-furred figures about 200 yards away near a deep canyon. He watched for about 10 minutes as they moved around close together, apparently looking at the ground and unaware of him. After he made a coyote call, both figures quickly left his view down into the canyon.

As she slowed and passed within about 40 feet, she described one as a tall, muscular, fur-covered figure walking toward shore while the second remained seated or stooped in the water, then she sped away frightened.

The witness believed they were the only observer and later found large tracks on a return visit.

The witness continued driving and later documented the sighting.

The witness and two relatives were hiking down from high lakes in the afternoon when they saw a large dark figure moving rapidly across a distant meadow on the far side of a river. The figure appeared to glide smoothly without bobbing, paused briefly when shouted at, then continued away and disappeared. The witnesses went down to the meadow edge but could not relocate it.
