The figure, visible from the waist up, turned its head to look at the group, after which all three left the creek and walked to their car. The father reportedly identified it aloud as Bigfoot.

The group fled to their dorm, later drove back for another look without approaching closely, and the reporter retrieved dropped groceries the next day.

The group approached the crossing site by a small meadow but found nothing further.

After hearing a crushing and rustling noise, the witness saw a tall black bipedal being about twenty yards away that looked at the witness and raised its arms. At a youth camp at night, the witness was inside a dorm getting ready for bed when campers in another dorm shouted about someone outside. Minutes later the witness watched a figure near a dumpster walk toward the dorm and peer in through a window from about 12 feet away for 20 to 30 seconds before disappearing. The next morning a discarded box was found on the ground with large footprints nearby.

The animal moved very fast with rear legs set wide apart and spine not flexing like a bear, using its front limbs hand-over-hand, showing broad shoulders, a flat-profile face and a part in the wet hair along its spine. It reached the top in seconds and went out of sight.

In winter 1980 the witness and six relatives stopped in a car at night east of Clayton and watched a tall dark hairy figure standing motionless in the headlights about 30 yards away for two to three minutes. The figure stared at them while frozen mid-stride, then darted into nearby woods in under a second after the driver flashed the lights. The witness reports lasting fear of being alone in woods since the incident.

Late at night the witness stood at an upstairs window watching barking dogs when a very large fur-covered figure crossed the backyard clearing. The figure paused, turned and looked up at the witness for nearly a minute before continuing downhill, ducking under tree branches and disappearing from view as the dogs fell silent. At daylight the dogs were unharmed and no physical traces were found on the frozen ground.
