Late night road crossing sighting by hunters near the eastern boundary of Mt. Hood National Forest
On the morning of October 5 2009 the witness and a companion were driving toward a hunting area when two black upright figures about seven feet tall ran across the road and into dense brush. The witness drove closer and then got out to listen but heard nothing and the figures were gone. The party left the woods that night and returned days later with a relative to find odor, snapped small trees, a possible print, and scat.
Motorist sees a roadside creature run uphill into the forest near the Sandy River
A driver rounding an uphill hairpin turn noticed a tall hairy human-like figure standing behind trees on the hillside above the road. The figure turned and ran uphill through steep brush with remarkable speed and disappeared within seconds. The driver called a relative, returned to the site, spoke with officers there, and later documented the area on video.
Tracks found south of the Warm Springs Reservation (REPORT UPDATED)
A couple out fishing and scouting for elk followed animal tracks and noticed a strong bad odor, white coarse hair covering a stump, and very large deep footprints around a wallow leading toward a creek. They estimated the prints were about a day old and also noted scarred trees and broken branches in the area. Frightened by the size and strangeness of the signs, they left and reported the experience right away.

During an overnight fishing trip the witness and his girlfriend were sleeping in a parked vehicle near a cabin when they noticed a tall hair-covered figure standing at the tree line and two smaller crouched figures near a truck. After alerting a companion in the cabin, the witness started the vehicle to shine lights on the figures, which then fled into the trees. A companion reported something running across the road as they drove, and later the group heard commotion near the lake.
Hikers notice a large (at least seven to eight feet tall) animal covered with dark brown fur sitting on a stump
The witness and a companion found long drag marks and extensively damaged vegetation earlier in the day. About two hours later while hiking on the southeast side of a creek, they saw a large dark-brown fur-covered animal sitting on a stump watching them. The animal stood, made a gesture, and walked into the forest. As they descended toward the creek they heard noise and saw a bear with a cub feeding nearby, leaving the witness unsure what was seen.
Family encounters upright creature while camping at Silver Falls
The witness's family of four stayed late at a remote Howard's Creek campsite and walked along the loop road on a bright Sunday afternoon. About 60 to 75 feet ahead, a very large dark-brown furry biped emerged from brush on one side, glanced toward them, then crossed quickly into brush on the other side. Frightened, the family returned to camp, where they noted deep scratches high on a tree trunk that they associated with the animal.
