A group of about ten young campers spent Memorial weekend at a secluded forest clearing. After earlier strange sounds and a brief sighting, one camper encountered a tall bipedal figure near the camp bathroom area and alerted the group. Several campers armed themselves, moved children into a vehicle, fired warning shots, and pursued the figure toward a nearby friends camp where they reported being circled by three tall dark-furred bipeds. The following mornings the group reported handprints on vehicles, footprints, nests, and broken-tree crosses and teepee structures around both camps.

They walked to the spot after the figures left and found a heap of branches resembling a bed, with some branches torn from trees high off the ground. The witness noted an absence of claw marks or bear prints and questioned how the branches could have been placed without tools.

Around 2 a.m. under a full moon, the witness awoke to grunting and snapping trees and saw a large hair-covered figure striking and eating a deer, then dragging it uphill. The figure approached the tent, giving off a strong musky odor and knocking a frying pan from a tree before leaving. In the morning the witness found deer remains, drag marks, and a shelter-like structure of bent and broken pines.
