Travelers watch tan-brown 5-6 foot hairy creature drink from stream with cupped hands

Four relatives stopped while driving over a mountain pass to stretch their legs. One member who is blind noticed a very foul smell, and the others looked into the canyon below and saw a long-haired brown creature drinking from a creek with its hands. The creature then stood, walked away upright in a semi-crouched posture, looked back at the group, and entered the forest.
