The witness was horseback riding on familiar trails in the afternoon when the horse grew nervous and the area went unusually silent. Near a ridge she saw a large very dark hair-covered being squatting in dense brush, which then started to emerge upright as the horse bolted. She briefly stopped in a clearing, saw nothing following, then rode quickly back to the trailer and reported what happened to relatives there.
