While driving to work in the dark, the witness noticed a bulky shape by the roadside that he first mistook for dumped furniture. As he drove past, it stood up from a squat and faced him, revealing a tall, muscular, hairy chest and arm through the car window. He passed within mirror distance and then saw in the rearview mirror that the figure was gone.

In fall 1974 the witness and a relative stopped while driving back roads looking for deer and watched through a rifle scope from about a quarter-mile away. They described a large black creature pulling leaves from a branch over the road while two much smaller creatures played in puddles nearby. After watching several minutes they left over safety concerns, returning a week later to find the branch was over 11 feet high.

Two companions were sleeping at a lakeside camp when one was awakened around 4 a.m. by snapping brush. A tall reddish-brown furry biped entered camp, bent over a parked motorcycle and gently touched it with both hands while ignoring the witnesses, then stood and walked away through thick brush. The witnesses waited, fled on the motorcycle, and later returned by car to retrieve their gear.
