Elk hunter trailed by large biped in twilight, finds tracks the next day
The witness was returning on foot to camp at night after sitting and hunting in a mountain park. He heard steps, snapping and rustling following him for some distance to an open moonlit bald. After waiting there and then entering timber on the far side, he looked back and saw a large dark shape where he had sat stand up and come toward him; after he shouted it ran into the trees.
Daytime sighting by hiker, off West Sopris Creek Road
The witness was hiking with dogs on a packed snow trail when other dogs began barking at something ahead. He saw a gorilla-like furry creature sitting in the shade of a pine about 50 yards away watching the dogs. After he tripped in a snow hole, the creature left over the ridge, showing only the back of its head. Deep snow prevented him from following or finding tracks.
Late night sighting by backpacker near Crater Lake
During a multi-day backpacking trip the witness left his tent at night and saw large green-glowing eyes about 70 feet away on the trail. The figure appeared over eight feet tall, stood on two legs, and had a very large head. After staring for about 30 seconds and being lit by a headlamp, it blinked, turned and walked out of sight.
