A group camping beside a creek at night heard recurring high-pitched screams and then movement in brush across the water. A tall figure with a very broad chest stepped into campfire and flashlight light, squatted at the water's edge with its hands in the water while staring at the group, then stood and walked away out of the light.

Creature observed kneeling beside a creek late at night
Late on Halloween night in 1996, the witness was driving over a bridge over Rock Creek after dropping off a relative. By car headlights the witness saw a large, dark, hairy figure squatting at the creek edge with its hands in the water. After a few seconds the figure stood, walked across the shallow creek, climbed the bank with little effort, and went into the trees.
