The witness was hiking on a mountain and heard a tapping sound while looking down a hollow toward a thicket. Through binoculars the witness watched a large hairy figure sitting on a log hitting it with a rock, then standing, looking toward the witness, moving its head side to side while hunched, and dashing into the thicket.

In the fall of 1983 the witness rode a bike to a friend's house at the end of a wooded gravel lane and found no one home. He then saw a tall black-haired upright figure tear a limb from a tree and look at him. He fled by bike toward the main road while hearing branches breaking and heavy footsteps alongside him until he reached the highway, where the sounds stopped.

Around 2 a.m. the witness stepped out of a backyard tent and saw a tall hair-covered figure standing by the corner of the house near a pine tree. After staring at each other for several seconds, the figure pushed off the tree, causing it to sway, and ran silently down a bank toward the woods and cornfield. The witness described the figure as about 7 to 8 feet tall with off-white to tan hair and longer-than-human arms.
