Two girls witness a large, hair covered baboon like creature squatting in the middle of the road

The witness was driving with a companion to a school game when they found a very large, hairy animal squatting in the middle of a narrow road. The driver steered toward it to avoid the creek and expected an impact from about ten feet away, but the animal dodged without contact and was gone when checked in the mirror. The pair later agreed it did not match a dog, bear, or other familiar animal.
