Witness spots a seven foot tall, brown creature in his headlights

The witness was driving on a road north of the Salmon River around midnight after dropping off companions. Headlights illuminated a brown upright animal about seven feet tall standing on the road. After about ten seconds the animal jumped agilely off the road down toward the narrow river bottom.
