Early morning sighting on US 59 near Poteau
The witness was driving at night and turned onto a county road when the headlights revealed a tall hunched figure on the roadside. The figure ran into the trees as the vehicle approached. The witness slowed with the windows down to look for it and heard a very loud growl but did not see it again.
Daylight sighting along a highway near Big Cedar
A couple was driving slowly through hairpin curves on a mountain highway. The wife saw a tall, brown, hairy biped about 35-40 feet off the road. She watched for about 10-15 seconds as it walked with swinging arms from behind a tree into full side view and away without reacting to them. The husband did not see it because of the road conditions.

On the afternoon of April 17, 2004, the witness was turkey hunting from a blind in a creek bottom after using a hawk locator call. He noticed what he first thought was a burnt tree about 50 yards away, then realized it was a large, dark-haired bipedal creature watching him. The two stared at each other before the creature turned and walked away upright, and the witness reported being badly frightened and smelling a musky odor when the wind shifted.
Young man has road cross encounter at dusk
A driver reported watching a large, brown, heavy-set creature slowly jog across a remote two-lane road and continue up a hill on two legs without looking at him. The observation lasted about 10 seconds at dusk. He first thought it was a bear but changed his mind when it moved bipedally like a person.
Nighttime sighting by trucker near Honobia
In July 1983 the witness was driving a tanker truck in the Honobia-Pickens area. A very large hairy creature ran across the road in front of the truck, nearly being hit, and continued running without stopping. The witness estimated it at about seven feet tall with a brownish upper body and lighter lower body and noted it wore no shoes.
