The witness was driving home at night with a daughter and grandson when a dark figure was seen standing by the roadside. The driver slowed and passed very close, observing a black, heavily built figure standing fully erect with a small head and long arms. After passing, the figure was reported to cross the road behind the car into the woods.

Newspaper account of an encounter with an unknown creature near Salt Creek
A motorcyclist turning onto Fairfield Street claimed a Bigfoot-like creature ran in front of him and caused him to fall. The creature then continued south toward Salt Creek while emitting a terrible smell. The frightened rider got up and left. A nearby resident recalling the story years later said it was in the local newspaper the next day.
