A roughly five-foot-tall hairy biped jogged across the lit front yard, paused to look at them for a few seconds, then sprinted rapidly into darkness. Both witnesses reported seeing it, while the resident relative did not.

It looked toward them briefly, cleared a barbed-wire fence with ease, then vanished behind a pond into the trees while dipping to miss a branch. The pair rushed indoors to tell adults, who told them it was likely a bear.
