Three backpackers see a large, massive upright animal running on two legs through the brush in Gallatin Nat'l Forest

Three backpackers waited out a storm below tree line, then continued hiking out toward the trailhead near sunset. As they crossed a logged clearing they heard thrashing and a howl, then saw a massive dark biped run through brush about 60 yards away into the forest. After hearing another distant howl from the opposite direction, they left the area quickly.
