Face-to-face encounter at dusk along the Pacific Coast Trail
The witness and a companion were hiking back up a forested trail in the evening when they heard loud branch-breaking sounds, saw bushes sway, and smelled a strong garbage-like odor. After the forest went quiet, the witness turned and saw a very large, dark reddish-brown, ape-faced head peering over vegetation, which watched curiously for a few seconds before moving behind a tree. The companion heard the sounds and smelled the odor but did not see the figure, and the pair quickly returned to their vehicle.

The witness was on an evening walk with a dog on a beach north of Brookings when the dog refused to enter the north end. Later, while heading up the path to the parking lot at 7:15 p.m., the witness saw two very large black-covered figures on the steep hills to the north. The figures walked hunched over with ape-like arm swings and long strides and appeared to come toward the witness, who then ran toward a vehicle.

At sunset the witness and a companion were hiking along a creek when they heard singing coming from a culvert. They approached and looked through the culvert and saw the silhouettes of two ape-like creatures with glowing eyes crouched at the far end, swaying and humming. The witnesses left quickly so as not to disturb them.

The witness reported finding two side-by-side sets of large tracks on a sand beach in the morning. The larger tracks measured about 18 inches long and the smaller about 13 inches long. The witness followed the trackways for about two miles until they entered a forested area.

The witness and a companion found long drag marks and extensively damaged vegetation earlier in the day. About two hours later while hiking on the southeast side of a creek, they saw a large dark-brown fur-covered animal sitting on a stump watching them. The animal stood, made a gesture, and walked into the forest. As they descended toward the creek they heard noise and saw a bear with a cub feeding nearby, leaving the witness unsure what was seen.
Logging crew has daytime sighting
Four coworkers at a cable logging site noticed movement across a canyon. Two of them watched the subject for about 15 minutes through a rifle scope from about 2500 feet away. They described an upright two-legged figure with broad shoulders, reddish-brown hair and a pointed head moving unhurriedly toward a ridge until it disappeared. After work they discussed the sighting and concluded it was a bigfoot.
