Daylight sighting by hikers in the Loveland Pass area (Cont. Div.)

Two hikers with a dog descended from the continental divide into a boggy meadow beside a large stream. They heard noises from the opposite bank and then saw a large hairy brown-and-black animal watch them for several seconds. The animal then moved away downstream through brush on two legs with a long loping gait. The witness noted the dog remained calm, unlike its usual reaction to wild animals.
