The witness was camping alone in a tall tent when something large approached at night. A tall shadow with broad shoulders was cast on the tent by an outside lantern. The visitor opened food containers, ate bread, growled, overturned a cooler and carried off meat before leaving toward the river where vocalizations were heard. Large footprints and teeth marks were found the following morning.

Two companions walking a hillside trail at night heard a loud snap and saw two large bipedal figures silhouetted against city lights. After one companion shouted, a second shorter figure stood up beside the taller slumped figure, and both fled on two legs crashing through small trees. The witnesses estimated the taller figure at 7.5 to 8 feet tall, hid at the fire tower overnight, and noted broken limbs and a sweet unpleasant odor in the area the next morning.

The witness reports that while cutting firewood with a relative on a saturated old road on a morning after overnight rain, they discovered a single large three-toed footprint. The print was described as about 14.5 inches long and nearly 5 inches wide and pressed about two inches deep. The witness and a companion returned to camp in the morning and then hiked a forest trail. At a spring they noticed a large heel-like print. About a mile farther, the witness saw a tall, reddish, long-haired biped run up a wooded hill and disappear. The companion did not see it, and the two left the area.

The witness went deer hunting before dawn on the Missouri side of the river after fresh snow. He found large human-like barefoot tracks in the snow and followed them a short distance. The trackway went along a field edge, backtracked inside the woods, and led to willow saplings with bark stripped off, then continued into thick brush toward the river. He did not see the trackmaker and stopped tracking to continue hunting.
