One snowy night the household arrived to find the porch light out and heard a whimpering cry and heavy bipedal steps moving around the house and into the woods, followed by a loud hiss that shook the horse barn where a large dog was chained. The next morning the family found large barefoot-like tracks in snow leading from the driveway around the house and over a fence, which they followed for about half a mile and photographed beside a size 14 shoe.

Three researchers camped in a remote timbered drainage in early August 1998 to study suspected sasquatch activity. Two companions fishing from a canoe at dusk noticed a dark crouched shape on the shoreline about 50 yards away. As they rowed closer the shape stood upright to about seven feet, looked toward them, turned toward a twig-snapping sound behind it, then spun and ran into the forest with further movement sounds heard. After waiting in the canoe, they paddled ashore and found two obscured marks in the sand where it had turned.
