The guest's family walked onto virgin county land across from their home to plan trails. They found dozens of sets of prints of different sizes that dwarfed a child's hand. A foul urinary skunk-like odor hung in the air and the group felt uncomfortable.

Not long after the shooting, a neighboring couple were at home at night when a creature came to their windows and peered in, moving from one window to another. The husband retrieved weapons but found nothing that night. Next morning in daylight with light snow they found tracks all around the house, concentrated where it had stood at windows, and law enforcement declined to respond.

At night rocks repeatedly struck the tent, table, chairs and vehicle from a ridge above. The team marked piles of rocks with marker and later found marked rocks thrown into camp, along with foot tracks and a handprint.

At the current home, the witness regularly hears indistinct mumbling like distant talking near the fields around dusk, especially when corn is planted. With binoculars she sees things moving in and out of the tree line, and finds many footprints in the fields.
