Large Footprints Found, Vocalizations Heard by Vacationer Near Lake Shasta
While on a family houseboat trip, the witness walked up a creek bed and found two sizes of bare human-like five-toed tracks that crossed sharp rocks and entered the woods. That night while sleeping atop the beached houseboat with a relative, both heard two loud distant resonant screams that rose high then dropped into a gargle-growl. The relative also later reported hearing heavy footsteps, breathing and grunting along the shore before dawn.

The witness, then about 12, was deer hunting with his father, brother and uncles at a mountain camp. Over several nights a loud screaming vocalization was heard around 9 p.m. and the uncles repeatedly chased the source uphill. One uncle confronted a very tall hair-covered biped at close range and fired over its head, while later nights brought a spotlight glimpse of a large dark mass, a small 4-foot figure, answering calls from another ridge, uprooted trees and reddish hair tufts, before the activity moved away.

Three hunters camped in a river bottom over the opening weekend of bow season. Over several days and nights they reported heavy impacts, rustling, a skunk-like odor, red eyeshine, wood knocks, whistles, talk-like mumbling, a whoop-ending vocalization, and bent trees and branch structures. The most intense moment was a predawn episode with a deep guttural roar followed by a scream-like sound near camp. They left early after smelling the odor again near a plum thicket.

In 1983 the witness was camping and was awakened around 11 p.m. by loud screams repeated every 15-20 seconds that approached through brush. The witness then saw a tall dark shape about 7-8 feet tall striding through undergrowth and yelled, after which it veered to go around and continued on screaming. A foul odor was noticed as it passed, and broken branches were found the next morning.

As a paperboy delivering newspapers in Eldridge in early February 1981, the witness found very large human-like footprints in snow crossing the town from northeast to southwest, and found a second set retracing the route in reverse the next morning. The witness was hiking with companions through woods toward a familiar spring when they noticed a large dome-shaped structure woven from vegetation beside a water-filled fire cut, with a partially consumed deer carcass inside. Shortly after examining the carcass from across the cut, the group heard movement and saw a very tall, muscular, reddish-brown hair-covered being standing in the open about 30 to 40 feet away. The being emitted an extremely loud, escalating scream that the witness felt in the chest, then lunged toward the group. The group fled back along the trail without looking back until reaching near home, and did not report the event to family at the time.

The witness and a companion were walking through an overgrown orchard near the witness's home in late afternoon when they heard a loud stomping sound nearby. They then saw the partial rear view of a large upright hair-covered animal moving away into dense brush while making a guttural sound, and both fled to the house. Three children walking on a wooded footpath noticed a tall female-like figure with a smaller juvenile standing by a tree off to the side. The larger figure stared at them, gave off a dead-animal smell, stepped toward them, growled and bared its teeth after being pointed out. The group fled toward a residence while hearing branches breaking, prolonged howling and screaming, and trees being beaten.

On a weekend morning the witness and two companions walked down a trail toward the back fields and noticed a strong odor of death and wet dog. The witness saw a small hairy juvenile peeking from behind what proved to be the leg of a very large female standing motionless in a clearing. After he pointed at her she roared, the group fled while hearing screams, howls and chatter around them, and the next morning a large log they played on was found broken.
