The witness, alone on a trail, reported feeling watched, stopping, then seeing an adult and a child blending with a tree. The adult reportedly maintained eye contact, brought the child into view briefly, and kept a hand on it before the child moved back behind the tree. The witness also reported a wet-dog-like odor and finding tracks at the start of the encounter.

Four teenagers walking north from a family hunting camp stopped on a steep two-track when they saw a tall, broad, dark figure standing in the middle of the road at the hilltop staring at them. After watching for about one to two minutes, they turned and ran back to camp without seeing what it did. Poorly defined pushed-in depressions were later noticed in soft gravel and sand in the general area.

They saw a large brown biped rise from the grass about 100 yards away and walk along the treeline, glancing at them before stepping up a bank into the forest. While on a family houseboat trip, the witness walked up a creek bed and found two sizes of bare human-like five-toed tracks that crossed sharp rocks and entered the woods. The relative also later reported hearing heavy footsteps, breathing and grunting along the shore before dawn.

The witness group was in an open field when they heard a howling/growling noise from the tree line. They approached and saw a creature crouched down that then stood about eight feet tall before running quickly toward a swamp. They did not follow into the swamp but found bark shredded from the tree where it had been.

The witness was hiking with a dog on Dilworth Mountain in late afternoon when they found two side-by-side sets of large bare human-like footprints in melting snow. The dog eagerly followed the scent along the tracks into the trees, which alarmed the witness, who called the dog back and left quickly. The witness returned the next day to photograph the tracks but could not relocate them after rain.

As children, the witness and a sibling companion went to play on a creek that had partly thawed and then refrozen hard overnight. They found a line of barefoot-like prints with distinct toes crossing the ice for about twenty feet and continuing up a steep bank. No other prints were present, and the witness judged a human origin unlikely because of the remote location and freezing weather.

While hiking through woods after crossing a posted fence, the couple found a large matted grass area, a broken tree top, and very large wide bare footprints in mud with no shoe prints. They also heard an owl and woodpecker sounds in daytime and a horrible smell, then felt uncomfortable and left quickly to a highway.

From boulders he glassed about eight hairy bipeds with young, watching them for about half an hour as some appeared to hide at a choke point while others circled. The witness, then about 12, was deer hunting with his father, brother and uncles at a mountain camp. Over several nights a loud screaming vocalization was heard around 9 p.m. and the uncles repeatedly chased the source uphill. One uncle confronted a very tall hair-covered biped at close range and fired over its head, while later nights brought a spotlight glimpse of a large dark mass, a small 4-foot figure, answering calls from another ridge, uprooted trees and reddish hair tufts, before the activity moved away.

The witness was hunting deer alone in the morning when he entered a brushy opening on a hilltop and noticed a tall black furry human-like figure about 40 feet away with its back turned. The figure was breaking and twisting branches from small trees while moving its upper body. After watching briefly and deciding it was neither a bear nor a human, the witness left the area quickly and ended the hunt.

Three hunters camped in a river bottom over the opening weekend of bow season. Over several days and nights they reported heavy impacts, rustling, a skunk-like odor, red eyeshine, wood knocks, whistles, talk-like mumbling, a whoop-ending vocalization, and bent trees and branch structures. The most intense moment was a predawn episode with a deep guttural roar followed by a scream-like sound near camp. They left early after smelling the odor again near a plum thicket.

In the fall of 1983 the witness rode a bike to a friend's house at the end of a wooded gravel lane and found no one home. He then saw a tall black-haired upright figure tear a limb from a tree and look at him. He fled by bike toward the main road while hearing branches breaking and heavy footsteps alongside him until he reached the highway, where the sounds stopped.

As a boy the witness and his cousin left a catfish in his grandparents' creek and found it gone the next day with muddied water and two large bare human-like footprints nearby. A short time later while sitting alone on a swing set he watched a reddish-brown creature part bushes about 50 yards away and stare at him for about a minute, moving its mouth, before backing away.
