Young Woman Observes Large Biped in a Field east of Pittsburgh
The witness was sitting outside at night talking on the phone when she heard movement in nearby woods and then noticed a strange odor. She looked up and saw a very large, hair-covered figure standing in a field about 30 feet away. Frightened, she ran inside and locked the doors, and a family member found nothing that night with a flashlight. The next morning she and a relative found flattened grass, clearings, and tracks leading into the woods but were too frightened to follow them.
Memory of finding tracks in snow and the attempt to keep a record south of Quarryville
Early one snowy morning a driver encountered a line of large human-like footprints crossing a road. Later that morning the witness and several neighbors inspected the trackway, which led from a field through yards, past rabbit hutches and a house, and on toward a field and wooded river hills. The prints in snow measured about 16 inches long with a stride of about 4 feet, and the witness made a tracing of the best-preserved print. The cause of the tracks was unknown to the witness and neighbors.

The witness was hunting small game on a family farm at dusk and started toward home through a field. The witness noticed a large dark hairy figure crawling low across the field dragging its rear legs and using its long arms. The witness stayed in place until a parent arrived on a tractor, then left the area. The next day the witness found drag marks and large footprints leading toward nearby woods.

Residents reported a hair-covered animal sometimes upright and sometimes moving on all fours at racehorse speed with a leaping stride. Heavy steel bear traps set and wired to an oak were found sprung with bait eaten, wire snapped, ground torn, and traps dragged rods away. Later explanations blaming a dog or disguised man were followed by continued reports.
