During winter while walking a stopped train to check for air-line breaks, the witness found a whole black bear front leg lying near the rails with a blood trail leading into the woods. The meat appeared ripped rather than cut, and the leg had not been there hours earlier. A coworker was called over to look at it.

The witness was hunting alone at dusk when a rock was thrown from the tree line. He scanned the trees with a gun-mounted light and saw a tall upright creature behind a large oak that growled and screamed, prompting him to fire at the tree. The creature fled bipedally across a meadow toward a valley. Afterwards the witness found hair and blood on the tree where the creature had stood.

A family reports seeing an unidentified tall biped around their rural home over four years, usually at night. The creature is described as 7 to 9 feet tall, walking upright with a slight hunch and running too fast to follow. Footprints, hair, possible saliva, blood stains, and snapped small trees were also found on the property. Up to nine family members in three houses have seen it when arriving, leaving, or moving between houses.

A farmer found his chicken coop door ripped off with a bloody handprint on it and hairs, footprints and blood left behind. Several chickens were killed without being eaten, and the door was taken to a zoo for examination.

While hiking with a friend over a high pass at night, the witness found a large pool of blood on the trail and a short distance off-trail a freshly dead antlered deer with no visible bullet or arrow wounds. Nearby the witness noticed thin trees woven into a teepee-like structure with trampled grass at its base. The witness felt watched while leaving the area and later wondered if the structure marked the kill location.

After nail boards were placed as bear deterrents, the owner returned in spring to find blood under and on a board and tissue that looked like foot flesh and fat left on the screws. Hairs caught on screws and preserved tissue were later collected for DNA testing.

Shortly after 2001, a visiting hunter placed in a stand at the group's camp shot one of the creatures, possibly in the shoulder. The animal was not recovered but was reportedly seen later holding its arm. Blood collected at the scene was said to test as an unknown primate with group type A.
