Snowshoers find possible tracks in the Antoine Peak Conservation Area
The witness and her husband were snowshoeing in the early afternoon when they noticed a strong foul odor and a single set of large bipedal tracks in the snow. They followed the trackway for several hundred feet, noting a stride far longer than the husband could match. The tracks led to a hill edge where they appeared to leap down toward a clearing, with paired landing marks visible below.

The witness hiked alone in heavy snow above the timber line to a summit and then turned back along the same trail. On the descent the witness found very large bear-like tracks that appeared to have followed the ascent route and then joined the witness's trail. Frightened by the thought of being followed in winter conditions, the witness ran down the mountain and returned home without reporting the incident at the time.
